White Elm Chantilly Cake Imperial Stout, 12% ABV. Pours thick and black with a half finger brown head that left light lacing. Nose is strong sweet chocolate cake batter. Taste follows, slightly sweet, slightly bitter, with cocoa aftertaste. Excellent thick and smooth mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Nose is better than the flavor, one of the strongest chocolate smells I've experienced in a beer. This isn't sweet enough to be a pastry stout, unfortunately.

16 oz can, no date, into Ghost In The Machine rastal.
Acquired in May 2021.
Deep black pour, lots of silky smoothness, with a creamy half finger of khaki head, receding to a thin ring.
Aroma of white chocolate - reminds me of their Torte Wheatwine actually - with a backdrop of ENORMOUS devils' food cake, some milk chocolate, hazelnut butter, and vanilla frosting. Pretty good.
Flavor hmm...it brings the cake element but there's also some weird beer elements and oddball adjuncts that don't seem to fit. Dark coffee starts this one out, followed by chocolate frosting, herbal hops, some forest stuff like logs and mushrooms and moss...then suddenly Count Chocula cereal. It's almost as if you smeared cheapo Duncan Hinds dark chocolate frosting on a shittake mushroom and washed it down with a glass of hoppy chocolate milk. Mikeller shoulda done this beer! It's funky, earthy, dirty, but also a smidge too sweet. It's not totally overboard on the cloy like their other beers have been, but it does not come together at all.
Feel is sticky, thick, slick, and burning. Nothing wrong here. Good carbonation, good burn, drinks like an imperial milk stout on steroids.
Overall, this one's not for me. It has a really dissonant flavor profile and I'm not sure I'll finish this can. To each their own.

Chantilly Cake from White Elm is a full plated dessert. It is nutty, has bitter cocoa, and sweet marshmallow. It has a great base that lets all the flavors do the talking.
