Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a stemmed tulip glass.
Black colored body. Light tan head. Leaves behind extensive lacing spots.
Aroma is dark espresso over dark roasted malts.
Taste is overall sweet, but laden with the espresso. Touch of fruity/floral hops and vanilla. Long lasting aftertaste.
More than medium mouthfeel. Creamy and coating. Bitterness from the espresso. Good carbonation.
Recommended for those that like prominent espresso layered in the milk stout.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: very dark brown indeed, nearly black, with a finger of creamy dark tan foam atop. Looks solid.

Smell: sweet with lots of good coffee aroma. There's a little bit of that green/vegetal aroma that often accompanies coffee stouts, but it's decently subdued here.

Taste: a bit of lactose sweetness, relatively light roasty character, and a good dose of coffee. Bitterness is present, but just as much as you'd expect from a coffee stout, and it's balanced by the lactose. A good beer!

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and a really smooth, silky creaminess, which I assume is attributable to the lactose. I really like it.

Overall: a really nice coffee breakfast stout, if just a tad on the sweet side for me (even in the style).

really nice beer, the coffee in here is fresh and flavorful, seemingly a modern lighter roast, tons of dry cocoa nuance to it, a hint of raisin, and a malt structure around it that really works. one thing i dig is the milk part being light, this isnt thick and sugary like they can sometimes be, i think the lactose and the coffee bitterness offset each other quite effectively. the vanilla in this is pleasant too, subtle and definitely in service of the coffee, i get an almost vanilla cola vibe here, lots of complexity in the center of the malt bill beyond just the normal low end roasty notes of the typical stout, they did good job building this out from there, and the sweetness that is present here serves a cool function of enhancing the grain layers for me. milk chocolate, dark chocolate, light woodiness, toffee, maple, and very good espresso, rich oily crema decadence to this. one thing i like is that its not super strong either, this is in a more drinkable alcohol range, which is great because its a flavor profile i want to spend some real time with. very well proportioned and refined, impressively good even. i was stoked on all their beer this time through, they seem to be doing quite well in terms of quality these days. this is delicious!

Dry dark appearance with slight tan head. Aroma is a pleasant coffee malt. Taste is a very nice coffee malt blend that is well worth trying and exceptional for a small brewery.

5 oz sample in a souvenir glass at the Inland NW Craft Beer Festival. Big coffee aroma and taste. Notes of vanilla and bourbon. Moderately sweet. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
