maybe the best beer i have ever had from these guys, which is really saying something, they do so many things well here. its lightly hazy, rose pink colored, frothy headed from the tap, and without any real color from the coffee it doesnt appear, maybe just slightly, unique looking brew in the glass. the aroma is amazing, maybe the best part of this, tangy natural fruit and chocolate forward earthy coffee, there is wonderful synergy between these ingredients, mouthwatering piquant berries and the rich regal coffee, somewhat sexy even, complex and not sugary at all. the tartness is cool, its a clean bacterial acidity and this almost presents like a berliner in terms of the base beer, light on the malt side but fluffy feeling like its wheat based, dry, and with the clean lemony lactic pucker but no real bracing acidity. there may be a little acid from the fruit and the coffee in here too ramping it up just a bit. i get a ton of character in the taste, from tobacco and cocoa to leather and sandalwood, raspberry jam and straight up real berries right from the carton, nice and juicy and ripe, rosewater and hibiscus notes too, dry cereals, a little maple and smoke in the coffee, insanely interesting, even addicting to drink. i love the interplay between the fruit and the coffee, they go back in forth in a lot of unique ways, and this whole thing is just a delight. cleanly fermented, simple ingredients, perfect proportions. smart and unique, i loved it!
