Thanks to Woemad for this one. 16oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the expected solid black color with about 3/4 inch of tan head (an aspect that so many big brews lack) that had very good retention and light-moderate lacing.

Deep, rich chocolate at the front of the nose, with some nice base malts behind. Only hints of the vanilla and toasted coconut listed on the label.

On the tongue, the base roast malts had the front, with the chocolate dominating the middle and back. Some slight roast on the finish. Still, the coconut and vanilla seem to be AWOL.

The body was smooth, and the expected full of the style, with a medium-dryish finish.

Drinkability was good, and easy can to drain.

Overall, a nicely solid brew. I was hoping for bolder coconut, but still, worth a shot if you find a can.

16oz can purchased at the Whistle Punk taproom in downtown Spokane, Washington, as part of a 4-pk for approx. $20-25. Brewed in collaboration with two other local breweries (Lumberbeard, on the other end of downtown Spokane, and YaYa, in Spokane Valley), this was brewed with vanilla beans, toasted coconut and cacao nibs.

Poured into a tulip glass, this was a viciousy black, with a big, creamy mocha colored head. Lots of lace.

The nose is that of a dessert stout. It's sweet and faintly nutty, with a little bit of roastiness.

Taste is similar to the nose, except that there's a bit more of a coffeeish bitterness from the midway point on through the finish, which is faintly dry. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it might otherwise be almost too cloying. As it is, it kinda resembles a candy bar. Oh, and there's absolutely NO sign of the 9% abv.

Medium-full body, with a creamy mouthfeel.

This would make a great dessert beer. I'm kinda wishing I didn't drink this now (in the afternoon on a 92° day), but had waited until after dinner. Still, it's delicious, especially on-tap, when I first had it at it's release two week ago, when WP was sending all the profits to a local racial equality charity. I'm willing to bet it would be devastating drinkable on nitro.
