Apricot Crumble from Whistle Punk Brewing. Received from @woemad in NBS BIF #15. Mystery beer #2. Stored at 40 degrees after receiving. Reviewed 28/05/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Served at 44 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 62.4 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), translucent.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, high density with small rocks, average retention, rapidly diminishing to neither crown nor cap, just a < 0.5mm ring of bubbles. No lacing remains as the head contracts.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Immediately after poured, weakly fruity. After a couple of minutes, none - no yeast, no hops, no malt.
Flavor – 3 – Begins slightly fruity. No yeast, no hops, no malt. No ethanol (5.8 % ABV as marked on label) taste or aroma. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends weakly sweet.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, short of creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Generally weak flavors and aromas combine to produce a totally bland beverage. As the end of the can is poured into the snifter, a load of sediment washes in, along with a blast of fruit aroma – apricot at last!
