Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: rich brown hue with a bit of haze and a thin layer of tan foam atop. More head would be nice, but the color is great.

Smell: malty with a good chocolate character and some mild notes of caramel. A rich aroma; I really like it.

Taste: moderately sweet malt with some chocolate and caramel character, along with a little bit of toastiness. The chocolate is not as rich as in the aroma, but still, it’s quite good.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a solid Czech dark lager, right up there with what you can get in Europe.

On tap at the source.

The beer pours a blackish brown color with considerable head and lacing (that dissipates pretty quickly). On the nose I'm getting light coffee and malt, with a hint of licorice and burnt toast. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this easy going, easy to enjoy dark lager. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with a moderately long, very lightly bitter, smooth finish. Alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile, and so drinkability is excellent.

This is a very nice beer and probably the most reminiscent of the dark lagers I had in Prague last Fall. It's a tad bit more expensive than what the pubs in Prague were charging (almost triple), but I guess that's to be expected. Regardless, this is an excellent example of the style.

Pours a reddish brown with a finger and a half of rocky head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring with little to no lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar. Taste follows nose. Delicious.

Woemad is a smart man to send me a Czech Dark Lager as part of the BIF, I love this style! Most of the examples I’ve tried are rather local, so it’s cool to get one from very far away, even better that it’s from a brewery I’ve quite enjoyed via woemad. Let’s see what this is all about

Pours a mostly clear reddish brown with 3 fingers of rocky light beige head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is pretty much what I expect, nothing more nothing less. I'm picking up on aromas of dark toast, medium roast coffee, peppery hops, toffee, milk chocolate, light rye bread, and raisin

It's not quite as sweet as some in the style are, though not overly roasty by any means. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting acidic coffee, toffee, dark toast, herbal hops, dark chocolate, brown sugar, and light char. The swallow brings notes of acidic coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread, brown sugar, peppery hops, raisin, and light caramel

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but nothing that ruins the drinkability

An all around solid CDL. A tad less sweet as others but still works nicely
