Collaboration with KCBC - Kings County Brewers Collective

DOUBLE INDIA PALE ALE
ABV: 8% • IBU: 40 • SRM: 6 • OG: 17.8°P

The Kings County Kombat Katz are back, with this hazy DIPA collab. Wheat heavy malt bill makes for a deceptively light body and kick-ass mouth feel. Hopped with the triple threat kombo Citra, Galaxy and Strata. Sets the Tiger loose, this juice ain’t nothin’ to F with.

A: Pours a light hazy medium to dark golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate burnt orange + orange + amber + copper + medium golden yellow + medium yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film covering approximately 20% of the surface of the beer surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/grapefruit + tropical/mango + tropical/passionfruit + tropical/papaya hops along with light to moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + wheat + oat malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there a re moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + wheat + oat malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy citrus/grapefruit + tropical/mango + tropical/passionfruit + tropical/papaya hops along with light to moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which slowly fades away leaving light lingering citrus pith + tropical hop flavors.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of creamy soft/fluffiness mid-body and a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly creamy soft/fluffy mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a citrus + citrus pith + tropical hop profile.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Dated 04/22/20. Gift from @mr-jj, I think.

Pours super hazy, amber-orange, biggish head that faded fairly slowly and plenty of carbonation to sustain it if it gets moved around a little bit. Smell is resin, citrus pith, fairly mild, unless you smell the emptied can, which is a huge blast of pine/citrus/resin.

Taste is fruity without being juicy; mangoes and ripe tropical fruit of some sort, plenty of citrus zest and resin, mostly grapefruit I think. Rich.

Mouthfeel is creamy, smooth, thick. This is a quite nice beer.

DATE: June 12, 2020... OCCASION: celebrating Mom and Dad-in-law's 49th (!) anniversary, as well as the "first" COVID-19 graduation--this of the drive-through variety... GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip pokal... pours a sizzling, lively body of subdued, almost muted orange, opaque below its two-fingered snow white head that forms a perfect foam cork for the glass... its resilience is impressive... thick, juicy grapefruit, bright orange and lime courtesy of the Citra, a dripping floral pollination, and a dank, dirty, earthy, marijuana-like underpinning that makes this a variety of the norm... creamy early, but the body hits with a thick warmth that lasts long after the sip is gone... puckering, bright yet not too bold or affecting--this sneaks like a tiger's claw but drips like a snake's fang--subtle and sippable without issue... the citrus is robust orange, grapefruit, peach, resin, earthy vegetable, vanilla, berry, and spices that sharpen the finish... juicy, textured, punchy, and fruity--a cocktail of a beer that refreshes and rewards at 8% ABV, which is understated but appreciated... this one is a bit overpriced--apologies, Interboro, but where I live, almost all your offerings are steep--but then again, I could not walk past the Wu-Tang shout-out without finally giving it a try...
