New recipe. Now coming in at 6.6% abv (much more to my liking) and with a new hop bill (no more Amarillo...cascade, citra, simcoe, columbus and el dorado).
Pours an amber golden with a dark white head. Aroma is candied florals, a little herbal, resinous, pine and some caramel malt. Flavor follows suit. Crisp, medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, despite the loss my favorite hop, Amarillo, this new recipe is a definite improvement. Still nothing special (and in ABQ your IPA needs to be special to be be relevant) but it is decent and a unique take on the style for ABQ. Kind of a little old school, an IPA I might have expected 10 years ago but fused with some of the newer hops. Not one I would buy a six pack of, but one I will revisit on draft sporadically when at their taproom...or so I would imagine. That all said, they really should dump this as their flagship IPA and replace it with Radical Aim. In a city loaded with some great IPA's, their flagship IPA should be their best IPA....which this isn't, IMO.
