on tap at the brewery - pours a hazed pale straw color with a 1 finger white cap that lasts....floral-pine aroma over dusty biscuit and pils malts....flavor follows aroma with a balance that slightly favors the hops clean wet finish....rounded well conditioned character and a soft mouth feel....decent summer pils

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Feb 21 2019 and served barely chilled.
Pours slightly hazy and very effervescent, with a pale golden-hued body that is initially topped off with two fingers of big bubbled, foamy white head. More than five minutes later, it has largely receded, with a lumpy cap of soapy froth remaining in place, as well as plenty of lovely lace distributed in its wake. Looks great; hope it's not overcarbonated. Hints of lemony citrus rind and apricot come through on the nose, along with suggestions of grainy, wheaty malts and floral hops.
Tasty stuff, though it's fruitier than most German-style pilseners, which I suppose is where the 'New World' aspect comes into play. Some grainy, crackery malt sweetness comprises a significant portion of the flavour profile, but my taste buds' attention are largely diverted towards the notes of lemon rind and stone fruitiness. Hints of floral hops arise towards the tail end of the sip, with more citrus rind lingering briefly into the aftertaste. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that froth up in the mouth a bit; not quite crisp, not quite smooth, but easy to toss back in any event.
Final Grade: 3.81, a B+. New World Pilsner delivers exactly what it advertises - a proper pilsener, with a bunch of citrusy North American hop ornaments decorating its facade. Four Fathers should re-dub this as an India Session Lager and watch the hipsters come a'flocking - at a mere 4.7%, it certainly qualifies for the 'session' part, and it's hoppy enough to be distinctly different from any of those lagers that get shipped here from Germany (though not necessarily better). I'll buy this again at some point, if I spot a fresh flat, and it's worth a try if you can muster the same.

The head is soooo frothy I had to scoop it off with a spoon. 3/4 of the glass was head and 1/4 beer. But anyway, the taste is great as usual and that’s the name of the game
