Cloudy orange-tan color. Poured a short head that dropped down to a thin skiff after a minute. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level. Left large patches of lace dots.
Blend of light sour funk, stonefruit, spices that nip at my nostrils, and a touch of citrus. A pie crust dough malt shows up after a while. Swirling the glass kicks up a hint of barnyard for a second, but then a much stronger citrus hangs around for a while.
Mild tart with a light citrus. Medium pie crust dough malt acts as a base for other flavors. Light funk, mild hot spices, mild apricot with a bit of nectarine, and then the woody shell of the stonefruit pit for a couple of seconds. The aftertaste is a slow continuation of the flavors fading out in the reverse order, leaving the apricot and its pit, then the tart citrus, spice, and a mild bitter to the end.
Medium tongue tingling. Doesn't foam up much. Has a bit of a spicy burn. Mild astringency.
Be sure to give the can a swirl before pouring. I wound up with more sediment in the second pour and thus much stronger funk and malt. It was almost like switching to a different beer that had more of the typical Belgian character.
