Our take on an American IPA brewed with grapefruit peel and citrusy hops, fermented with a saison yeast.

Had this farmhouse ale, brewed with grapefruit, on draft into tumbler.
Slowboat is Mississippi's newest operating brewery and probably the first "artisan" business in the Free State of Jones since the onset of the Industrial Age, before which all businesses were artisanal. Just as it is the beneficiary of the trail-blazing Mississippi brewers who came before, so are we because Slowboat, recognizing that it is a second generation brewery, debuted with this farmhouse ale, a milk stout and a Belgian wit. Not an IPA or APA or blonde ale in the bunch.
2018 update: In January 2018, Slowboat released their 4 mainstay beers, including Wayward Son, in 32-oz. crowlers. Wayward Son got a name change, from “Ale” to “IPA” (so much for avoiding pandering to the crowd), but otherwise the beer seems unchanged, except that it is rather over-carbonated in the can.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
