an interesting dark sour here, complex and interesting beer, sort of a flanders-esque vinegar thing to it, but it seems darker and deeper on the grain side than that, with some almost bitter dark barley in here, and some neat funk as well, although the wood element is mild in this, and its the maturity of the fermenting agents that stands out the most. i like the bit of bitterness in the flavor, its neat with the dark cherry and raisin notes in the malt, and with the citrus i get from the bacterial side of this as well. some red wine tannins, rum sweetness, and cocoa richness, its layered and weird, maybe a touch oxidized, but it all seems to work together. there is a definite vinegar hit to the sourness, but some funk too, and this seems unique as well in that regard, not the same old mixed fermentation, wild, or sour profile at all. its amazing how low the alcohol is on this, it seems noticeable somehow, maybe its the acidity playing tricks on me, but i almost feel its sting, even at this strength. a hint of smoke, fig, and burnt toast at the end, lemony pucker coming back after each sip, and pretty good carbonation keeping it lively. really unique dark sour, unlike anything i can think of having in the past. my first beer from these guys, ill look for more when i am back east next!

This was one of the most sour tarts I've ever had. The sourness lasted for a long time after drinking. It was a cherry sour - interesting.
