Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of pure white fluffy foam. The head fades very slowly over time to leave a ton of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a green coffee smell mixed with some notes of roasted and toasted coffee. While this coffee aroma is rather intense, some lighter smells of a grainy and bready nature are there as well producing a very inviting aroma overall.
Taste – While the coffee is huge in the nose it is not nearly as big on the tongue, at least initially. The taste begins with a grainy and doughy taste that has a moderate sum caramel and a corn like sweetness. There is just a touch of coffee on the tongue upfront, being of a green coffee like flavor. As the taste moves forward the sweet and malt remain consistent, all while quite a bit more coffee and a bit of earth and herb come to the tongue, leaving one with a bready and nicely coffee flavored, crisp but slightly more malty, taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average to slightly higher. For the mix of pilsner sweetness/graininess/maltiness and green and roasted coffee the feel is quite nice and creates a very easy drinking feel.
Overall – A very flavorful and slightly sweeter pilsner with a good coffee hit. This is an interesting brew all around. Awesome!! Try it!!
