love the name, the beer is a touch underwhelming, fresh and good, but almost more like a pale ale, not even that malty but the fresh hop intensity i was hoping for seems muted, and i taste as much of the malt as i do the hops really in this, but its nice beer, approachable alcohol content, not interesting in any way, and a kind of softer side of cascade than we usually think of, but good. could be that the cascade is montana grown, maybe more mild or something than the northwestern stuff, i dont know. bright yellow colored beer, unfiltered looking but certainly not a hazy and with a nice glow to it, average white head from the tap, ample carbonation, light in color for how malt balanced this seems to be. aroma is fresh, weedy with some pine, lemon, and zested orange with some pith, pleasant but familiar, if short of boring, light malt sweetness, a honey note, some earthy cereal character, simple really, nowhere near enough pungency or bitterness to rightly fit the ipa billing, at least to my nose, and thats true in flavor too, fresh and nice as this is, the hops seem reserved, restrained, less peppy and forward than i think id like them to be in a beer like this, almost too safe or something. the hops have identifiable citrus and oiliness on the tongue, some late bitterness that kind of rises up, definitely undetectable in the aroma, light lemon and lemongrass, grassy too, but not really green in the negative sense, subtle peach and peach candy as it warms, nice grain support the whole way, mild sweetness there until the end. its good beer, it is, but it underwhelms as a fresh hop offering, easygoing, drinkable, clean, all of that, but the hops just dont pop like they should. a bit of a letdown, even as a quality beer, from a brewery i really dig!
