this beer is great and these guys are cool. one of the better coconut beers out right now, and my first from cogstone. its done with a ton of toasted coconut, but the base beer is very solid to begin with. its a lighter brown ale that has some deep amber ale qualities, a little midway sweetness, a nice nutty aspect, and plenty of roasted malt that adds a lot of depth and in this instance serves as a wonderful platform for the toasted coconut. its not syrupy or fake tasting, the real thing, they must have put a ton of coconut in, because it can be smelled well in front of chocolate and toasted malts, and tasted first as well. i like it with the sweeter grain, and if this had a little more body, i would like it even more, it comes through just a little thin, but the coconut element is flawlessly done, heavy handed and earthy at the same time as sweet, outstanding. carbonation was also a tad short of ideal, but the beer has a nice lingering way about it, hanging out on the palate in no hurry to scram, and the flavor is amazing. this thing improves as it warms too, but my glass didnt last very long. one of the benchmarks in coconut beer locally here i would say, id love to know more about the process. these guys should get some attention for this one, its really good.
