Got this from the brewpub in Utrecht. Cheers!
From a bottle into a snifter
Bottled 19 December 2022
APPEARANCE: Clear dark brown pour yields a one finger, medium looking, fizzy and crackly tan head with lousy retention. Head quickly fizzes down to a swirly wisp and ring. Bistre brown body with higher levels of carbonation. Ring remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass. Lighter in color with a fizzier, short-lived head on this one.
SMELL: Bold nose of roasted malts, creamy coffee, milk chocolate, notes of butterscotch and some burnt aromas. Bold and enticing.
TASTE: Roasted malts, milk chocolate, creamy coffee and some alcohol at the swallow. Bold and roasted finish of charred malts, creamy, bitter espresso coffee, milk chocolate, hints of butterscotch sweetness and plenty of bitter, roasted flavors linger on the swallow. Flavorful and plenty of roasted coffee character.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, Goes down smooth with a bit of a bite and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. No real heat lingers.
OVERALL: Nice stuff. The look could be darker for the style and the head is a little lack luster, but this is a roasted, bitter, coffee forward imperial stout with lots of enjoyable aroma and flavor. Really enjoyed this one and the bar and brought home a few for home (which are now gone too). Recommend checking this one out while it’s still around. Cheers!
