simple but pretty good, on tap at their newer location, where yellowstone valley used to be, nice to see someone doing fermentation forward beers in this part of the world, some are better than others from these guys, but i appreciate it nevertheless. this is a little thin to me, but its also pretty good overall, the yeast is the driving flavor element, but its not over the top estery, not soapy or cheap, its nuanced, green pear, white grape, white wine, light coriander, slightly herbal not not hoppy in any real way, summery, a little bit strong, and yet very light bodied and quick finishing, probably better in high summer than in deep winter. very blonde from the tap, less head on it after a minute than i usually look for in this style, but not flat to drink. a little floral in the nose, white tea, clover, honeysuckle, that sort of thing, with an jasmine note, white pepper spiciness from the yeast, and a little sweetness running through it, simple on the grain side overall though. the flavor is yeast forward all the way, more lemony and even lightly tangy at temperature, less generic actually than anticipated on the ferment, but also this isnt that expert, like it lacks the effervescence i think the style needs, doesnt have that frothy brightness to it, and even if the flavors are largely agreeable, it takes more than just good flavor to make good belgian beer, texture is essential here, and this is a little off in that respect. still, thankful to have these guys churning out some neat yeast forward brews, i was impressed with a brett ipa and a sour white grape beer this time through, but this one could use some tweaking.
