a neat kveik yeast tart ale with pears. its a great use of a tricky fruit, and is obviously pear in nose and taste, forward but not dominant in the mix, and very natural without being sugary at all, really impressively done. i have been back and forth on kveik yeast too, but it works here, some belgian saison type esters in here, and some acidity too making it tangy, there must be a couple of fermenting agents at work here, i dont know kveik yeast to produce much acidity, but who knows. its murky pale beer with a nice head from the tap and pretty good carbonation. the nose is awesome, green pear skin, a little citrus tang too, and some raw and earthy wheat as well, built like a saison, and with a little funkiness. subtle banana and lemon along with the obvious pear in the taste, a hint of white wine even, but enough grain for this to not be juice but beer, the amount of pear is just right, and i like that this finishes dry for being so fruity. quite drinkable, interesting on the ferment, and well made overall. i havent had a ton of beer from these guys, but i like the funky, sour, and saison types the best so far. distinct and good, not too sour, springy and memorable.
