Brewed in the traditional way, some of the first runnings are reduced to enhance malt while Heather tips are used to aroma and bittering.

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a muddy brown color with a thin white foamy head that had sprinkled some messy lace here and there. The aroma had some sweet heather/herbal/grassy/earthiness to it. Leafy toastiness comes out as it warms. Just a touch of caramel and toffee malts. The flavor leads with the heather/herbal qualities, somewhat sweet and floral. Grassiness and earthiness sits back a bit more. Leafiness helps with the balance of the caramel and toffee. Sly floral/herbal aftertaste but extremely faint. Floral/herbal finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a good sessionability about it. Low carbonation. ABV seemed like what the brewer intended but way lower than the style. Overall, decent in flavor and aroma, but the feel seemed a bit different. Let’s just say crushable. An odd Scottish ale to say the least.
