On Tap

A- pours clear bright golden color with a one-finger creamy white head that has good retention and leaving

S- smells of fall leaves, honey, cracker malt, floral and spicy hops

T- toasted barley, honey, caramel, spicy and leafy hops, semi dry finish

M- medium body with moderate carbonation, creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

O- I'm not sure why they call this a marzen, because it's clearly a festbier. It's quite flavorful and drinkable for a festbier, though.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a clear and pale golden straw yellow, with a small head, and lots of lacing. This seems to definitely fall into the pale festbier style, rather than the caramel-colored marzen style.

This smells like honey, bread, grassy hops, yeast, and flowers.

This is crisp and clean, with grassy and slightly spicy hops, flower, biscuity malt, and a sort of mineral like flavor.

This is pretty light bodied, and very clean, with a good level of carbonation, and a high level of drinkability.

It's the time of year in which I want to drink every version of this style that I can. I'm glad to have come across this one.
