Can.I have really been enamored with HVB. Ingot is no exception. A Sour DIPA w/ raw wheat, malted oat, hibiscus & lime; hopped exclusively w/ Nelson Sauvin (my favorite). Sour IPAs seem to be a farce but what I have had from HVB has been mostly great. Can't knock a company for trying to expand the boundaries of their industry either, in my opinion. Ingot pours a slightly cloudy dark red. This beer is RED. Not brownish red. Thin ring of pinkish head. Definitely pick up on the hibiscus. Probably the most notable aroma. The Nelson doesn't jump out to me. Honestly the hops don't jump out to me. Smells nice but smells more like a strong fruit/spice beer. The lime jumps out in the flavor. Then the hibiscus is back. These beers aren't overly hoppy. I wish there was more Nelson. The body is surprisingly light. Alcohol is MIA (especially at 8%). I find it hard to properly give this beer a rating. Good but doesn't hit it's true potential; yet I give it extra points for not being a syrupy disaster.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Red/maroon pour with 2 fingers of pink head. Decent ring of lacing.

S: Fruit punch. Sweet/tart and juicy. Hibiscus and more fruit.

T.F: Sweet/tart... just like it smells. I'm mostly tasting a tart fruit punch. Hops not terribly forward for a 'sour IPA'. Hibiscus, lime, and tropicals. Medium to light bodied... hides its ABV and very drinkable. More sweet/tart fruit at the finish.

O: I'm not sure what exactly this is... but it's pretty damned good, and again the closest I can come is a tart Hawaiian punch with hibiscus. Enjoyable beer. Unique.
