An Even More Sour Adaptation of Root + Branch's "The Nomadic Approach To Reinventing the Wheel" Brewed With Great Care At Hudson Valley Brewery In Beacon NY Under the Direct Supervision of Jeppe Himself From Evil Twin NYC, Sour DIPA, is the most ridiculous beer name I’ve ever heard. A 232-character name suggesting either a double or triple collaboration beer. Yeah, it’s wild. The name caught me off guard when I saw it online, and I was honestly planning on picking it up regardless but I got a small sample before committing and I enjoyed it so I had to pill the trigger. Let’s get into it
Pours a vibrant purplish red with 3 fingers of pinkish white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves nice webby lacing. A beautiful beer
The nose is vibrant and tart, but there’s still a nice hoppiness to it. I’m picking up on aromas of tart blackberry, peach rings, lemon juice, graham cracker, grassy hops, and light vanilla
Likewise in taste it presents a nice balance, not only between hops and fruit, but between the sweet and tart fruit as well. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting jammy raspberry, lemon juice, wheat bread, tangerine zest, light coconut, and grassy hops. The swallow brings notes of tart blackberry, peach sorbet, tangerine zest, lemon juice, graham cracker, grassy hops, and light coconut
A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a tart and creamy beer. Finishes quite dry and nicely balanced
For something that caught my eye because of the absurdity of it all, this was very damn good. Hell, I wish I got a bigger growler than 16 oz. Oh well
