Giant Step Backwards

It begins with a much foamier than expected cracking open of a pint can, followed by a very foamy pour that, only with a pause, emptied the entire contents into a clear glass liter mug. Most concerning, as this isn't a style known for high carbonation. The foam eventually reduces to an overly frothy head that's irregularly structured and colored biegely. It receded unevenly and very unattractively, leaving spotty lacing. The solid malt aroma also seems a little stale, so in fairness, this can may be passed its ideal freshness date. It tastes OK, with a nice balance of mild hops and barley malt that provides a reasonably complex flavor that's neither too sweet, nor too bitter. But, it even drinks a little too fizzy for its style, the only complaint about the mouthfeel. So, even if this is outdated, the taste is good and the aroma is passable. Yet, with a nicely solid dull brown color, this isn't pretty to look at.
