Light bodied with a touch a crystal malt and a heavy dose of Mosaic hops.

August 6th, 2016 - Another stanky beer, this fresh from the gym locker, with an alluring barnyard nature and something akin to festering sweat. But the flavor is a little more tropical, with a spicy edge up front and in the aftertaste. Reminds me of long ago trips to Caribbean and sampling spiced rums on mount side road ways. But there's still a dry quality too, but less dry than the Hopmata.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of pale and mildly caramel malt, dank and citrus hops, lemon, orange, light stone fruit and some dankness around the edges. Flavor follows, with pale malt, dank and citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, mild light stone fruit, a bit of pine and dankness. Pine develops into a piney, citrus rind finish with solid bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. More West Coast than big time dank, but a solid example of the style. Unassuming, but supporting malt and an interesting hop bill. Pleasant and solid. A good introduction to this brewery.

Glass: Burning Beard snifter glass
From: Burning Beard Brewing in El Cajon, Calif.
Price: $4.50
Purchased: May 20, 2019
Consumed: May 20, 2019
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: Quick review
Got sick of a work party, so ducked over to Burning Beard (for a third straight year I believe). Had this once before, giving it a 4.00 on Untappd. Didn’t know much about this beer beforehand, but noticed the Mosaic right away and confirmed with a beertender there.
Poured a light amber clear color with 3-to-3 fingers of rocky white head. Could see bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled rose blossom, Mosaic, floral, stone fruit, peach, mango and pine. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose. Got rose blossom, floral, perfume, Mosaic, stone fruit, mango, berry and bitter pine. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Just a solid IPA overall. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Really solid IPA on during their soft opening phase. Good malt to hop balance, piney and bitter, with a creamy mellow finish (mosaic?). Good start from an awesome new brewery.
