Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $3.89
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 30, 2020
Consumed: May 16, 2020
Misc.: Canned on April 23, 2020
Grabbed a can of this with a ton of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Had it one time before, giving a pint of this a 3.75 on Untappd on Nov. 27, 2019. Found one description of the beer on Bine & Vine, writing, “A super duper juice bomb bursting with STRATA hop goodness and a gorgeous velvety mouthfeel.”
Poured a golden hazy color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Slow moving bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. World-class spotty lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled big Strata. Also lime, grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, coconut, strawberry and hints of watermelon. Not as good from the can, but mainly got notes of grapefruit, lime and Strata. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really good. In order got Strata, grapefruit, lime, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, strawberry and hints of watermelon. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Wow. So much better than the one time I had this on tap. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
