Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 26, 2021
Consumed: March 13, 2021
Misc.: Collab with McIlhenney; Canned on Feb. 26, 2021
Got this and a handful of other beers on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Was psyched to see this in stores and especially psyched that it was canned that morning (the guy there told me that first). Still didn’t have it until 15 days later. Untappd description read “East County West Coast IPA. Poured a clear, medium amber color with four fingers of rocky white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled pine, black pepper, tea, Cascade, mixed berry, Strata, red grapefruit, caramel malt and I think some woody Chinook. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted better than the nose. This tasted like an old school West Coast IPA. In order got pine, tea, Cascade, Chinook, black pepper, earthy caramel malt, red grapefruit, mixed berry, hints of Strata and tangerine. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, earthy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was outstanding to me overall. Was hoping for a bit more with McIlhenney being involved, but still an outstanding West Coast IPA. (Overall - 4.00)
