Clear amber brew with average foam in the New Belgium snifter. Aroma of grain and straw. Below average carbonation, but adequate spritz on the tongue. This starts out rather sweet, but with a bitter edge. Flavor is an odd mix of malt with caramel and bitter herbs. Interesting but not one to look for. Haven't been to Burning Beard, or even seen a can, in eight years at least. From the 16 oz can purchased at San Diego Wine & Beer Co.

Snuck over to Windmill Farms before heading to Pure Project and North Park, mainly to see what kind of newish North Park stuff they had. Came across this one from Burning Beard. Untappd description is “A German-style lager made with Pilsner malt and Hallertau Mittlefrüh hops. Earthy with notes of hay, dried flowers, and slight notes of leather and tobacco.”
Poured a clear medium yellow color with four fingers of frothy white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good foggy lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled great from the beginning. In order got dry grass, hay, floral, Noble hops, white bread, earthy grain and lemon. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. This is a great beer. In order got dry grass, hay, black pepper, Noble hops, floral, white bread, earthy pilsner malt, grain and lemon. (Taste - 4.50)
Light body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Such a good beer. I plan on getting a lot more of this. I only wish it was a tad cheaper. Maybe $2.99 for a can, $12 for a 4-pack. (Overall - 4.25)
