From a can. Dark brown-black with an off white head. Smells of coffee and roasted malts. The flavor is roasted malts, coffee, and a little bit of fruity sweetness. Hop bitterness is in the undertones but no real hop flavor. Medium-full bodied and smooth.

Black in color, with dark brown highlights at the very top and bottom. Small soapy tan head. Good retention and lacing.

Delightful coffee aroma; that earthy and tobacco-like sweetness with baking cocoa and chocolate covered raisin. Nice dark chocolate and bark.

The taste follows the nose pretty closely. Earthy, nutty, and tobacco coffee with smooth chocolate and raisin. A mild roasted bitterness glides in on the mid-palate, but it doesn't linger too intensely. It's a nice balance. It's not acrid or ashy, but it's no pastry stout, either. Dark chocolate rounds out the finish but it ends clean.

Medium plus feel, just thick enough to be smooth but it drinks cleanly and effortlessly. It's not chewy or palate-coating, but it's not thin or watery, either. A mild, light carbonation.

Pretty great coffee stout. Leans into the easy-drinking stout category, but has some of the positives of an imperial stout. I love that coffee blend. Some of my favorite coffee notes.

16 fl oz pull-tab can courtesy of T-cup - thanks, T!

7.0% ABV. "Coffee stout brewed with sweet bloom coffee." (coffee from Sweet Bloom coffee roasters).

Has a nice earthy coffee presence with mellow concomitant bitterness and a nice creamy softness to it. Smooth, wet, approachably medium-bodied. I can't say it has any rich Java roastiness or delicate fruity flavours coffee-wise, but it has a nice coffee pungency - not too bold or overpoweringly intense nor too restrained.

Chocolatey malt sweetness rounds out the base of this no-frills coffee stout.

More roasted barley could help kick this up a few notches, and the coffee character isn't dazzling compared to that found in the best expressions of the style, but it's a well rounded balanced coffee stout at a manageable ABV and I find it quite drinkable.

Would I buy this again over something like Founders' Breakfast Stout? Certainly not...
