Pours a fairly hazy brass with a big, beautiful white head that sticks around and leaves thick rings of lacing. A plus on overall look, but a minus on style as it is supposed to be a WCIPA. Aroma is predominately fruity. Candied guava and some lychee/lime. A bright, tangy kind of sweetness with a fairly round bitter body underneath. Flavor is evenly medium bitterness with some perfumey hints of the aromatic profile. Nothing to write home about but a thin, vaguely medicinal (aspirin) bitterness that is pretty refreshing. Mouthfeel is also in a middle ground. Neither juicy nor dry, neither soft nor biting. Overall a pretty nice, different "new school IPA," for lack of a better style descriptor. Easy to drink, hoppy and refreshing. Doesn't pop in any one way, but a solid beer considering it seems to be a gimmicky kind of committee beer brewed for a special occasion. On the topic of gimmicks I expected a more West Coast IPA with a '90s label, on the other hand ATCQ is from NY, so I'll just give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it all was a conscious choice... Tasty beer.
