Fine, clear, dark pour, mainly opaque body; thin, patchy head, off-white; loose patches of foam stick to the glass. Pleasing aroma; dark roasted grain with a nice touch of earthy sweetness. Excellent balanced flavor for the style; rich and malty with a mild dark chocolate sweetness; delicate grain char; very mild overall bitterness. Medium body; smooth with a deft touch of velvet feel.
Overall, a very nice schwarzbier. The coffee element is fairly well hidden but does add just that little bit of extra presence to edge the taste to a higher level.
