Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Pale Ale
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $5.69
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 23, 2021
Consumed: July 28, 2021
Misc.: Canned on June 23, 2021
Snuck over to Bine & Vine to pick up a North Park beer I really wanted but couldn’t got that far for just one beer, so picked up this one without looking at it too much. Bine & Vine’s website called it “Hazy Pale Ale Dry Hopped w/ Simcoe, Mosaic & El Dorado.”
Poured a light-to-medium golden hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class uneven foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled more Simcoe initially with Mosaic right behind and lesser El Dorado. Specifically got passion fruit, papaya, tangerine rind, peach skin, mixed berry, floral, mango, pine and melon. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
El Dorado led the way from the first sip on. Also Simcoe, bitter pine, melon, papaya, tangerine, orange tooth polish, passion fruit, peach skin, Mosaic, mixed berry, mango, pineapple and grapefruit rind. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Was back and forth on a few categories, but this was really good for the style. Outstanding at least and probably a little bit better. (Overall - 4.25)
