I am trying a tall boy can of this beer at the Marriott Courtyard hotel in Nanaimo, BC. It poured a slightly hazy copper with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had subtle pine and citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright semi sweet malt base with subtle bitter pine resin and citrus hop notes. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Taster at the brewery.
What started out as a nice somewhat-earthy IPA finished rather clunky. It was okay but not a beer I would seek out. The 7% ABV makes the mouthfeel kind of fat and too big for my taste.

Definitely one of the best IPAs I tried during my summer trip to Vancouver Island. This is a heady, nicely hopped brew with a solid malt base. The bright, citrusy nature of this beer made me happy to be alive!

Serving: 650 mL bottle poured into a small tasting glass.
Appearance: Bright, clear copper with a foamy off white head and streaky lace.
Smell: Caramel malt, citrus rind, resin and slight hoppy dankness.
Taste: Malty body with caramel, pears, citrus, resin and earth. Crisp bitterness gives a clean finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with good carbonation.
Overall: Flavorful, drinkable IPA.
