Appearance: Clear, dark turquoise in color, with a small white head which is gone in seconds. Lacing is all but absent, just a bubble or two on the rim. Occasional fat bubbles drift lazily to the surface.
Aroma: Fruity aroma, mostly of pomegranate and some blueberries, but the pomegranate dominates. There is a faint whiff of alcohol, but not at all pronounced, as the high ABV of 12.0% would lead me to expect. There is no hop presence in the aroma.
Taste: Opens with strong notes of pomegranate and lesser blueberry. As with the aroma, the pomegranate dominates, but the blueberries are there as well. The fruit flavors seem quite natural, and pleasing, the label notes "with natural fruit flavors". As to the high alcohol content, it is present in the taste, but much more understated that I would expect. It is rather warming, but it doesn't taste like an alcohol bomb. Finishes with lingering fruit flavors and mild alcohol flavors and no hops.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, pleasant, full.
Drinkability/notes: Much better than I expected, it is an alcohol bomb; I was surprised that the high ABV was presented so gracefully. Considering that I paid less than three dollars for a twenty-three-point-five ounce can, it seems a decent value for the money.
Presentation: Packaged in a twenty-three-point-five ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
