Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, light cocoa, coconut and graham cracker. Flavor is rich dark toasted malt, coconut, quality coffee, milk and dark chocolate. Lingering chocolate and coffee finish. Medium bodied with silky, moderate to heavy body and mouth feel. I'm always happy to find another Black Is Beautiful; after a bit of a rush, they seem to be tapering off in frequency. This one has the deep body and chocolate profile of my other favorite versions. This has a full, creamy mouth feel as well as full influence of the chocolate and coffee. I think that this was brewed a few months ago, so the coffee has held up quite nicely. I thought I tasted whiskey barrel notes at first, but since this is not a barreled one, I'm guessing it's some kind of interaction between the coconut and coffee; and very welcome at that. This is well made, balanced and full flavored. Definitely one of my favorites so far. Recommended if you can find it.
