my first beer from these guys after hearing a lot of good things. i like the simple nature of this one, a blueberry wheat beer, nice and low alcohol and pleasing in the heat. for me, the critique lies in the fruit, which is heavily dosed, tastes very juicy, but also has a cooked nature to it, more of a waffle topping from dennys than real fresh berries, both in aroma and flavor. the taste is agreeable though, a little sweet with the faintest tang to it, plenty of wheat body too, this doesnt feel as water or soda-like as a lot of these do, even with the saturation of the fruit. sort of reminds me of seadog with a little bit more grain character, but the blueberry complexion is similar. decent carbonation and a long lasting berry finish. i think it could be a little drier and a little more natural tasting with the fruit, but overall this isnt bad stuff at all, and works quite well in a hot weather context. hoping to try a few more of their beers next time i get down to charleston, they seem to be a local favorite.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau. Had a golden yellow color and a mostly clear consistency. There was an inch and a half of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Not a whole lot of lacing, but this is common for beers of the style.
S: A solid aroma of wheat, blueberries, and a malty quality. Underplayed to a certain degree.
T: Tasted of a lot of wheat, an undercurrent of blueberries, malt, and another unidentifiable fruity element. Not as heavy on the blueberries as you would think - it tastes more of wheat than anything else - but a nicely subtle flavor.
F: A decent amount of lacing with a smooth finish. Light-bodied.
O: This beer has its flaws, but it's a solid entry from a young brewery. Worth a look.
