Reviewed from notes. Had on tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter.
A: Very dark brown, opaque, with a half-finger's worth of tan head. Low visible carbonation.
S: Deep roasted malts, chocolate, and tobacco.
T: Cacao, roasted malts with accompanying bitterness. Drying tobacco, semi-sweet chocolate. A mild hop presence with more roasty bitterness in the finish.
M: Full-bodied, though not Cycle territory. Low carbonation, and the alcohol is dangerously well-hidden.
O: This isn't setting new standards or anything, but honestly it's pretty damn solid. Especially for a brewery I'd never heard of until I walked by. Would gladly drink again. I hope they'll continue to make beers of this quality.
