In Dunedin, worrying about the world up north as I don’t know what what and with whom, just yet. All the unpleasant pieces slowly rearing their heads. On walkabout, now just up the block from that 1st Florida brewery we’ve seen so many times before. I feel like we’ve come by a bunch of times and it’s been under construction or this is not one of the days they’re open. But today will be the day…

It’s a large pale green, beige & clean wood building with arches & white panel windows with a red trim. They occupy half the building; the other half is their woodworking shop, true. The door to in holds a very cool stained glass logo pieced panel and an absolutely boss hammer door handle. Off to the right, a wrapping bar seating 8 rounding from a cut tree at the other end, an interesting transition. Large logo circular buzz saw blade on barback center with 18 house and 2 guest taps (Name of beer and ABV) printed in 2 rows of 9 in alt colored chalk. Vertical cupboard pieces to both sides of center with glassware in all sizes & shapes. Really goddamn awesome wood slat hop lamps above tracing the bar. Brewerywise, they’ve got a 2 barrel system somewhere here.

A single tower with 8 taps to the rear and 2 sets of 3 tap cylinders pairs along the bar. All the tap handles are files or other woodworking tools. 18 taps house (Kolsch, 5.7%; Blonde, 6.5%; Amber Ale, 5.6%; Irish Red Ale, 5%; Hefeweizen, 6%; Amberweizen, 5.8%; Dunkelweizen, 5.8%; Oak Smoked Dunkelweizen, 5.7%; German Alt, 5.9%; Braggot, 7.4%; Scottish Ale, 5.5%; Oatmeal Stout, 5.4%; Imperial Stout, 9.8%; Mandarina, 5.5%; IPA, 5.8%; Hazy NE IPA, 6.4%; Belgian Golden Strong, 10.5%; Belgian Dark Strong, 11.2%) + 2 guest taps; Rapp Sour (which Dena is all about) & 3 Daughters Cider.

I caught 8 shortys across 2 samplers of 4 each (Hefeweizen, banana, clove, sure; Dunkelwizen, more of that; German Alt, malty brown ale goodness; Oatmeal Stout, smooth, licoricey, oaty, quite nice; Scottish Ale, dark, some malt there; Braggot, oh, honey, that’s actually very good; IPA, hoppy & bitter; NE Hazy IPA, well, it’s hoppy & hazy, not too bad, but I think the malt is their stronger suit). German Alt, Oatmeal Stout, & Braggot for the wins.

Great wood working about. 3 tables down past the bar along the big windows, a split tree bar counter piece adjacent to there, and an end piece cupboard with swag. Some framed prints here and there. We went upstairs to see what is there to see that is there. It’s a small space with a handful of tables (one of which looks like the unfinished death star), some framed prints, a corner couch, an old boy-scout backpack, and a boat suspended from the ceiling. Windows there for the lookout and about. And then wandered down and out. Wraparound porch holds 18 chairs on an ‘L’ along a bar counter ledge. Small table & bench or chair set ups riddled about. With beer(s) now in hand, we’ll set up in the side garden space off the porch. The ground cover in sea shell pieces, and 3 winched sails across the center of the space offer cover beneath. 7 green pic-a-nic tables (3 of them forward the rear corner kitchen box and 4 to the side), and 3 shorty wood tables with 4 wood slat chairs each. Some with red house logo umbrellas, others not so much. Strung single bulbs lining, large plantered palm trees, and Cornhole for the play if that’s your jam.

Good wood, cool space, & some nice beers with great friends and a pleasant Friday breeze where there oughtn’t be one. An excellent addition to the Dunedin scene as it is it is it is.

Went on a Friday evening and the place was three-quarters packed and has a chill (slightly older person) vibe; not knocking this place but it is definitely a place you go to relax and not expect a "party". Beer selection has a good variety and the beer I had was good; got to talk with one of the brewers/owners (both?) and he certainly enjoys his craft/business (both?). Also, I don't normally comment on a place's interior/design but this place has a unique rustic look; might not be a concern to others but I enjoyed the rustic look as haven't really seen that in Florida breweries.
