On the plane from Vienna to Copenhagen 12/3 2015. 33 cl can served on the airplane. Green can with the name of the beer in white, Neo-gothic letters.
Pours clear yellow with a substantial white head. Stable. Gradually subsiding. Moderate lacing.
Malty, salty aroma. A little grainy sourness as well. Bread and pale malts.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture
Flavor is not particularly strong. A little malty sweetness and some saltiness and a nice bitterness in the aftertaste.
Not a bad take on an airplane-beer.

Had on tap. Clear brighter golden body with a white head that fizzles out slowly. This might be one of the worst marzens I have ever had. Smells of cheap euro malts with floral and biscuit tones. Taste is even blander with cheap euro malts dominating, with a decently astringent finish with hop bitters. Watery, bloated, and lacks crispness or really any defining character

A bit of a disappointment for a marzen. I was hoping for a nice malty amber right now and instead I got something closer to an OK Euro Pale.
This is my second from Gosser and I sort of understand their role for Heineken of managing Gosser and other H-owned Austrian beer brands. And that's OK. But certainly Heineken has the resources to buy the resources to craft an above average marzen. But Gosser's is below average.
Looks need amber and foam. Smells need more than faintly light to medium-coloured malts. Tastes are balanced, but start from an uneventful standard; but at least it has a mildly hoppy finish. Light for a marzen, but refreshing.
I give Gosser OK Overall Hugs because they are eventually going to find a brew that deserves Heineken's marketing power.
3/30/25 For lack of alternative, I went back to this "marzen." I stand by my review and rating.

Good as lagers go. I liked the sweetness. People at a neighboring table all excited about it, but I don’t see what is so special.

Clear, golden colour. Finely bubbled, compact foam.
Aroma pleasantly malty, with light hoppy notes (flowers, garden).
Taste slightly sweet with a hoppy, dry finish.
Medium saturation upwards. Smooth texture. Medium plus body. Aftertaste short malty, sweetly dry.

Plentiful in the cooler in the lounge at the Vienna Airport. Not a great beer but drinkable and good when cold. Austria is known for wine, not beer. Like a Euro Pale Lager but with a bit more malt and sweetness. Wouldn’t seek out but acceptable when free.
