I had this from the tap at the brewpub awhile ago. My notes say "really good" and "hop bomb." West Coast IPAs have long been in my taste sweet-spot, so I'm not surprised it left such a favorable impression.

Mile Wide Catalina Breeze IPA - 7.0% ABV - ? IBUs
Date: Code 2018220, enjoyed on 8/20/18.
Appearance: Bight clear gold in color with two plus fingers of a white head with very tight carbonation.
Aroma: Grapefruit, strong aromas of grains, and some pine hop notes. The more I try to uncover, the more I get aromas of either oats, rye, or wheat.
Taste: Nice bitter grapefruit hits first followed by malt sweetness, before giving way to a slightly dry bitter orange pith finish. As all these flavors are coming out, the grains are going wild everywhere in between, lending a lot of additional flavor, but not a lot of sweetness. As is warms, flavors of green apple and pear begin to surface. Clean, fruity, bitter, almost saison like in some respects with a good creamy, full mouthfeel.
Biased comments: Its nice to return to the beer that was my introduction to Mile Wide, which might also be my favorite, save for Tessie and Moxie. Catalina Breeze is an all around solid IPA, that manages to do something pleasantly different with the style.

Pours typical of a west coast style. Nose is citrusy and taste is as well. Bitter hops are delicate at first but rise at the back end and the finish is excellent.

Pours a beautiful deep golden, slightly hazy, thin clear white head. Nose is the epitomy of 'dank', earthy, mildly gassy, a bit funky, a sour/citrus backbone. Flavor is a great balance of citrusy sweetness and C hop bitterness, with just enough earthy/herbal/grassy to give the flavor a bit of depth. Mouthfeel is wonderful, lots of body but it clears the tongue quickly. This is a great wcipa, nothing revolutionary or mind blowing but just a solidly built, wonderfully balanced, example of a quintisential american style.

This is an outstanding citrusy IPA. Very enjoyable both on tap and in 16 oz. cans (which we couldn't pass up).

Pours a traditional amber in color with a faint haze that keeps you from seeing through the glass. Frothy off white head. lacing is dense and sticks to the glass well into the session.
Mango, orange and possibly passion fruit on the nose. Very aromatic.
Orange and grapefruit just kinda leap out at you with each sip. Finishes with a nice pine resin bitterness.
Medium body. Dry. medium carbonation.
This is the first beer I've had by Mile Wide and I really have enjoyed it. Anyone who enjoys an IPA should give this one a go. Truthfully this beer will probably end up being something that I go back to more then once in the future.

Luring us in with the fragrant, fruit-forward hops but stripping the palate with dry bitterness late, the Mile Wide team gives a taste of West Coast hop bombs in the bluegrass.
Catalina Breeze wafts over the senses with a burst of citrusy hops and a hint of herb, grass and pepper. Its light amber shade and gentle white froth precedes a moderate malt impact of caramel, honeysuckle and graham cracker in its first introductions.
But as the sweetness quickly drifts away, its the bold hop flavor that takes firm command. Bursting with orange blossom, tangerine and pink grapefruit, the succulent hop flavors soon lead into a spicy hop bitterness that's laced with white grapefruit peel, leaf, stem and a gentle waft of cannabis that billows as the ale continues to dry and tighten its grip on the throat.
Medium bodied but trending lighter and drier, the beer has no problems letting the hops take the lead as they intensify deeper into finish while the malt sweetness recedes further. A long and bitter aftertaste is clean, smooth but radiates with a strong pine resin and hemp-like afterglow.
