Sensory overload is likely as the brewers at Mile Wide embark upon a hazy, juicy and fruity pale ale that showcases the intense character of Callista hops. Fruity, floral and somewhat tangy, this pale ale is a treat for all the senses.
Kicking off with a pale golden hue and a tarnish haze, DJ Roomba looks the part of haze underneath a blanket of cotton white froth. Tangy, spicy, fruity and yeasty, the beer's balanced bouquet is nearly mistaken for Belgian IPA. Its crisp and sweet upstart is biscuity with shortbread, light honey and toasted pastry.
The showcase for flavor, however, is the hops that spring to life on the middle palate. Overshadowing any malt influence, the taste of under ripened oranges, white grapefruit, honeydew and pear bring an estery, hoppy brightness to the forefront. Herbal with the spice of lemon pepper and lemongrass, a green tea flavor looms with a bright grassiness of parsley in tow.
Medium bodied but chased into dryness by the peppery nature of hops, the beer continues to take on a hoppy Belgian character into a medium long finish of sassafras, verbena and fresh cedar.
