Always love to see a black ipa in the wild. This one doesn't have a great nose but the flavor is all there with the nice roasted coffee notes mixing with hops to produce a citrus and berry note. Really enjoyable

16oz undated can poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 7% ABV. The beer pours dense black with prolific tan colored head. The head recedes slowly to inch thick cap leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is vague pine and citrus hops. The taste is piney caramel along with dark, but not roasty, malt with a moderate to light finishing bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. It's hard for me to pass on a hoppy black ale even without a can date. Would definitely drink again.

Hope I have this under the correct style. It's a black india pale ale. Supposedly the brewer is from Schlafley and this beer tastes similar but not as bitter as the Schlafley black ipa. It's very well done and smoothe. I don't know if this offering is year-round but I sure hope it is. I would like a lot more black ipa's on the market.
