500 ml gold wax capped bottle, no dating on it that I noticed. Purchased at the taproom about a month ago, from what I could find online about this it was a December 2018 release. Served in a tulip, the beer pours dark brown with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice and sweet, the brew smells like vanilla, caramel, bourbon, brown sugar and dark bread. I think the taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, but there's also some woody and toasted malt flavors noticeable too. It's a sweet tasting beer but the sweetness isn't overpowering at all. Also a good amount of barrel character. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think it's a pretty good brew, definitely worth trying if you're into doppelbocks and/or barrel aged beers!
