When the storms rage in Louisville area, things just hit differently. Extra cloudy, extra fruity, extra smooth are just a few of the beer flavors that help midwesterners through it all.
Pouring excessively hazy, Hazy Midwest Clouds roll in with a frothy eggshell crown and a dense orange opaqueness. Fruity pez-like candy sweet scents decorate the nose while tropical, citrus and stone fruits soon follow. Sweet with cereal, fructose and pastry dough and a taste of tropical fruit tart kicks off the flavors. Slightly bruised and condensed in its fruit display, bold mango and guava addition blend seamlessly into the hoppy citrus and tropical impression. Finishing with a pronounced vegetal bite, the finish is bittersweet with a good measure of hop and pectin derived astringency.
Full bodied for IPA, the ale finishes both bitter and sweet with a less than smooth mouthfeel. Creamy dense and rife with apricot, cannabis and damp sod, the ale just goes a bit sideways in taste and texture but is easily seducing with those tropical fruit additions.
