Bad Leroy Brown just got a little better with the help of Mile Wide. A softer, smoother an more savory side of Leroy is helped with a generous addition of vanilla to make things a little less bad.
Medium brown and looking the Brown Ale part, Vanilla Leroy Brown Ale releases a light tan froth the swirls like coffee creme before falling short. The soothing scent of vanilla wraps around the toasted grain for a seductive aroma of chocolate, toast, nuttiness and caramel. Malty-sweet and occupying the sweet tooth, early impressions of caramel, toffee and chocolate give a sweeter first impression.
As the ale rolls along the middle palate, the malt flavors remain juicy with sweetness while inviting a nutty taste of toasted pecan, medium toast, coffee and a hint of smoky char for a savory development of malt. As the flavors dry, the hops and coffee pull ahead yet stay in check from the vanilla that keeps the session soothing and rounded.
Medium bodied and lightening to nearly water textures, the brown ale resists dryness and keeps the malts and vanilla front and center. Finishing malty and slightly cola-like, the aftertaste comes with a bland and tacky after palate.
