ONE PINT can
Served in an oversized, stemless wine glass

This beer pours a murky purple color and is topped with a fleeting pinkish tan head that leaves little lacing.

The raspberry and lime really stand out in the smell. It smells tart. There is some underlying cherry.

The raspberry and lime add some great tartness to the taste. It builds as I consume it. The cherry plays a tertiary role.

Full bodied with a thick, creamy mouthfeel

Pretty tasty

Just in time for national "make-it-go-boom" day, Mile Wide looks to the popular summer cold snack of rocket popsicle for inspiration behind their refreshing, sour ale as part of their Quiet Science series.

But there's nothing quiet about this beer. Boomsicle pours with a light mauvish maroon color, cast in a light wheaten haze. As its from rises and falls in spritzy fashion, the scent of cherry, raspberry and lime leap to mind immediately. With hints of cider, citrus and wine in tow, the scent soon develops into a refreshingly sweet upstart of sourdough, taffy and fructose.

As the undercurrent of sourness swirls with lime, lemon, green apple, white grape and gooseberry, the more gose-like taste sets the stage for the generous fruit flavors to come. Leading with cherry, the backup of raspberry and added lime add support and allow the session to take a wine cooler direction. Playfully tart in its late palate, the ale favors the acidity as the session closes.

Light, crisp and refreshing, the sour ale is rather tepid in its dryness, sourness and fruitiness, allowing for a great sense of drinkability but giving up complexity, intensity and depth. Falling watery and plain in finish, the ale lingers with brief echoes of sourdough and citrus.
