Quietly sneaking into the waning cooler days of winter, Mile Wide brewing brings a sense of berry and cheer to the lingering gloom with a bright and tangy ale that celebrates the three kings of the beer world- raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry.
Pale mauve and held in a cloudy glow, Mixed Berry Quiet Science builds a part-creamy, part-fizzy froth that plays host to a strong berry, citrus and cidery scent that’s also backed with rose wine and sourdough. Sweeter to taste, the early palate celebrates a light cobbler-like pastry character with hints of taffy, sourdough and fruit juices.
As the sour ale splashes against the middle palate, its juiciness of red berry and dark berry become the featured flavor in a full and orchard fruit cocktail display. Add in the insinuations of lemon, green apple, lime and white wine and a spiked punch character takes shape. With a low level bitterness pulling from the fruit skins and seeds, a balance of bitter fruitiness accompanies an acute sourness in true cocktail form.
Medium bodied and trending lighter, the sour ale finishes fruity and tart with an underpinning of sourdough and light jam. Highly refreshing and is certainly a beer to helps get us through the longer days of winter.
