Nothing quiet about Mile Wide's Mardi Gras inspired American sour ale uses passionfruit, tangerine, black currant and pomegranate that hits the palate like a hurricane.
Rusty ruby and held in a cloudy glow, Hurricane Quiet Science builds a part-creamy, part-fizzy froth that plays host to a strong fruit cocktail of tropical citrus and cidery scents which are also backed with light wine and sourdough. Sweeter to taste, the early palate celebrates a fruit punch character with hints of taffy, sourdough and fruit juices.
As the sour ale washes the middle palate, its juiciness of orange and dark berry become the featured flavor in a full and tropical cocktail display. Add in the underlying impressions of lemon, green apple, lime, white wine and a spiked punch take shape. With a low level bitterness pulling from the fruit skins and seeds, a balance of bitter fruitiness accompanies an acute and clean lactic sourness in true cocktail form.
Medium bodied and trending lighter, drier and more refreshing, the sour ale finishes fruity and tart with an underpinning of sourdough and light jam. Its a brisk, fruity and tangy ale that's certain to keep the good times rolling.
