Challenging the gag reflexes, Mile Wide and Streetside breweries tests the tastebuds with a strawberries & cream Milkshake IPA.
It must be opposites day because they call this beer Lifesaver. As it pours a clumped and curdled muddy mauve, its froth carries a short and fleeting character. Before falling still, the beer swoons the nose with candied fruit sweetness, plumpness, radiant and floral scents that intersect with herb and citrus. As its cereal sweet taste wraps around the tongue, the distraction of fruit pieces and parts play the smoothie role a little too well.
As the ale beats against the middle palate, the true-to-fruit flavor doubles down while a the citrus flavors of red grapefruit, orange and lime carry a hoppy profile. The dominance of red berries and vanilla share a vine ripened character with a smooth milky sweetness in taste. Lightly herbal and bitter, the ale finishes mildly tart for a bittersweet and fruit filled character.
While all is good in taste, its mouthfeel couldn’t feel more off- like trying to drink a beer with guppies in the mouth. Distracting, overly plump and ordered with extra pulp, we’re all dying over this lifesaver beer.

16oz can
Served in a tulip glass
This beer pours a murky, ruddy orange color and has plenty of floaties in it that settle to the bottom of the glass. It is topped with a few inches of creamy, pink-tinged head that clings to the side of the glass as I quaff the contents.
It has a strawberries and cream aroma. Sweet smelling.
Strawberries and cream flavor as well. Tastes like dessert instead of an IPA.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
Good, easy drinking beer.
