With a groundswell of pastry-this, smoothie-that, milkshake-this and hazy-that, the palate can get pretty overwhelmed at times. And sometimes we just want a beer flavored beer.
Mile Wide brewers hit the ground with a German-sytled pilsner, pouring pale gold and with a fine mesh haze. As its lofty froth builds on the rim, the scent of fresh baking bread, a floral bouquet and spicy grasses tease the nose, the taste is gently sweet with bread, cereal and a dash of powdered sugar. Ample carbonation carries away the malt sweetness as the hops build upon the middle palate, shifting from floral to fruity, to spicy with those herbal bitternesses showing balance and bite in the finish.
Medium bodied for pilsner but light overall, the session is a crisp, clean and refreshing one of familiarity, comfort and simplicity. It's basically a security blanket for the tastebuds.
