Drainpour - not just for me but for my wife also. Just an odd beer. Looks unappealing in that it gives the appearance of being watered down. Had a translucent muddy straw color. Aroma is a mix citrus, spice, plus an odd note of vanilla that ruined everything for me. Flavor followed suit - but really tasted off. Can't figure out why I get vanilla from this. Malt profile has no definition. Mouthfeel was too thin and watery. Session strength beers seem to require a certain kind of know-how to make them work or else they fall apart. I figured Exhibit A would have that ability so this was disappointing. Couldn't finish more than 2 sips.

Picked this up at the brewery.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice lightly hazy dark straw hue with a thin one finger white head that fades rather quickly to leave a thin halo and wispy cloud of a blanket.

S - Aromas of nice orange citrus, fair amount of melon aroma, very light and subtle tropical notes. Light grains as well.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. The citrus is a bit lighter than the nose was. Melon notes are solid. There is some spicy earthy grassy hop characteristics going on that are pleasant. The finish is lightly bitter.

M - Mouthfeel is, surprisingly, rather lowly carbonated. The body is very thin and watery.

O - Overall this was a promising beer with a rather pleasant nose, however, the really thin mouthfeel hinders the overall aspect of this beer.

"Short Day Tallboy" 12/21/16

Super cloudy with a fizzy head that fades quickly. Big time citrus and hay/grass in the nose with a dry, citrusy hop profile in the flavor. Super tasty cold but I let it warm to room temperature for the last few sips and that allowed its weaknesses to show. I get a dusty hop pellet presence and the beer just seems incomplete. Body is thin and watery and the finish is lackluster. While it's definitely a Pale Ale, emphasis on pale, I think they'd be better off calling this a hoppy Blonde. This might have been superb in 2010 but these days there's just way too much to compete with. Nice experiment and look forward to improvement with the 'Mindset' series.

Canned on the shortest day of the year, 12/21, hence "short day tallboy"

Pours a nice creamy fizzy head that hits a finger but fades fairly quickly, just a bit of lacing, very murky pale pear yellowish tannish color.

Nose a really interesting mix of hops, some citrus out front, with quick honey dew melon, a little mango pineapple tropical notes, melon rind, tangerine flesh, big orange juice ttropical fruit blend, a hint of creamy wheat and toasted notes.

Taste brings more spicy hops out front, chewy like hops like I'm chewing on hops, grassy and spicy, into mild floral notes, then some citrus finally, orange rind, a little pith, tangerine, mild melon rind, faint papaya mango like tropical notes, thin creamy wheat. Finish is dry and big spicy chewy hops again, a bit of orange peel and melon rind.

Mouth is a bit thin and watery unfortunately, decent carb.

Overall it's too bad, started strong with an awesome nose, but then disappeared quickly. Too much big hop bitterness and spiciness out front, too thin and watery on the base, but with some tweaking I feel this could be an awesome beer.

Went to brewery after seeing it on BA's "Breweries to watch in 2017" list. Was very pleased with all the beers. I'm an IPA person, but this Pale Ale was my favorite of the day. A little sour after taste that was unique. Overall great experience. Great, knowledgable/fun staff. Highly recommend.

Bright, yellow in color. Hazy. Wanted to like this more. It's the jumble of different malts that kind of kill this for me. Maybe a touch less pilsner malt would have helped the hops shine a bit more.
